Palaces In Decay

Stunning Architecture & Palaces in Decay

La Havana is littered with run down palaces. The Spanish colonial architecture, the art nouveau contributions of the 20s and the modern Vedado developed in the mid 40s form an amazing urban ensemble unique in the world.

Except a few streets in Old Havana, the city is in ruins although undergoing many renovations.

Some of the provincial cities like Cienfuegos or Trinidad are in contrast beautifully restored often with the assistance of international funds from the European Community and the Unesco.

Left and below are common views in Vieja Habana: cablles hanging, shaky floors, cracking walls, hanging clothes to dry.
