Feb 2011. We left Adelaide in a camper van with Eury and travelled to Broken Hill then to Wilcannia where we met Nieves and Woody Harris. A side trip to White Cliffs where we met Jock then Orange and Sydney.
Woody Harris lives in Wilcannia. He carves timber. He gave us music sticks and a boomerang. Wilcannia is abandoned, half empty. The shops are closed, the beuatifully restored post office, abadined. The little hospital is well run and tidy, doctors fly in from Broken Hill.
White Cliffs, really the end of the road. Jock has been living in a cave for the last 43 years digging for opals. He ends up living in his mine, too poor to leave the place. His wife left him 14 years ago, sick and tired of getting dust in her soup.
